A charming apartment; recently totally refurbished by its Roman architect, owner. The owner of this apartment has consistently positive reviews and you can read more in the following article from the Boston Globe

Nothing has been spared with this renovation, carried out with love and using only the highest quality in furnishings and fittings.

This apartment is located on the fourth floor (no elevator) of an ancient building in a typically characteristic Roman neighborhood.

The apartment has a furnished terrace offering wonderful views of Rome and if you take it slowly it’s certainly worth the four floor walk up.

This sunny Rome apartment has original exposed ceilings, terracotta tiles throughout and from the windows of the bedroom you also have a view of ancient Roman rooftops.

The double bedroom has padded headrests and the en-suite bathroom has Mediterranean blue tiles and marble bench tops.

The fully equipped kitchen is bright and colorful and compliments the decor of the apartment.

You can take the iron stairway from the kitchen doors to the terrace.

The comfortable living room has a double sofa and a matching dining table and chairs: doors from here are also accessible to the terrace.

The terrace which is the feature of this meticulous apartment is fully furnished and shaded from the summer sun.

Here you can enjoy outdoor dining or relax while contemplating the Eternal City.

Carla is an excellent, helpful and charming host. The apartment was exactly as advertized. The Terrace was what makes the place as you sit above the crowds and listen to the World Cup fans cheering below. Don't be daunted by the walk up, you get used to it quickly and it should be considered part of your daily workout. The kitchen is well equipped. If you do not want the crowd of the Campo di Fiore just go up to the square containing the Palazzo Farnese just a block or two up from the apt as you turn right coming out of the apt. Enjoy!

This was a terrific apartment - every bit as attractive and comfortable as it appeared on the website; Carla could not have been more charming or helpful. Really, everything you need is within walking distance. The deli, Ruggeri, on the corner was a delight; the market provided wonderful fruit and vegetables; L'Angolo Divino has great wines, though it has to be said that they're on the grumpy side, but that's probably just the Roman spirit coming to the fore. Good restaurants abound. Settimio al Pellegrino is very Roman and quite unspoilt, and you won't find many tourists there. Dittitrambo is excellent. Sora Margherita, in the Jewish quarter, is very authentic, and the food delicious, but do book; there are only a handful of tables. All these places are minutes from the apartment. We spent a fortnight based here and not for a minute did I think we should have stayed in another part of Rome.

Great apartment in a perfect location. Efficient transfer and warmly welcomed by Carla who gave us loads of local information. Charming roof terrace is accessed via a steep external iron staircase, which is not made entirely clear in the description, otherwise all excellent.

Excellently located accommodation only metres from Campo dei Fiori market square right in the heart of historic Rome. Easy walking distance to all the tourist locations. The apartment is on the 3rd floor and the stairs are very steep. However, the apartment has a roof top terrace which offers rooftop views and is a nice place to relax after a day od sightseeing.

We could walk to any of the major attractions from this location and wind and enjoyed sitting at a restuarant in Campo di Fiori watching all the market activity in the morning and also passing people in the evening. Found all the restaurants and bars to be reasonably priced.

We were extremely and utterly happy with this apartment on our honeymoon. It was very cozy with air conditioning and a terrific terrace! The owner was gracious and helpful. We highly recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to visit Rome as it was just perfect. The farmer's market which is open from 8am til 2pm daily is literally a few steps away, fresh vegetables and fruits are the perfect way to start your day! This apartment was conveniently located within walking distance of all the sites. Thank you for a trip of a lifetime!

We had a great stay in Balestrari Terrace. Carla was wonderfully welcoming and gracious. She baked a cake, left a fruit platter, and arranged a car for our trip to the airport at the end of our stay. The apartment was clean and roomy w/ beautiful breezes and views from the rooftop terrace. We would definitely book this apt again.

Great place! My wife and I stayed here for three nights, and we can't wait to go back! Carla has thought of everything to make the apartment perfect. It is in a wonderful location to get to the most important sites, or just to hang out around the neighborhood. The apartment is beautiful and has everything we needed to make ourselves feel at home in Rome :)

We had a wonderful 4 day break in Rome staying at Carla's apartment. The apartment was right in the middle of the old part of Rome and made walking to all the sights very easy. The apartment was of a very good standard and the roof terrace was a real bonus as the weather got quite warm. The stairs could be a problem to the not so fit but we soon got used to the climb. Carla was very helpful to us telling us where the best shops and restaurants were located. We will certainly be returning to Rome again and would definitely use Carla's apartment again.

Carla was a wonderful host, she checked us in earlier as a last minute request from us, she gave us lots of information, called to let us know that there would be a time change (day light saving) while we were there and was so helpful with any little questions we had... Her apartment is cozy, comfy and cute.... but make sure you're able to walk lots of stairs!

What a find! Great location, supremely comfortable and convenient provided you have no problem mounting 6 flights of stairs. Quiet at night with Daikin Aircon at EURO 5 per day extra to keep you comfy in the heat. We loved it and will definitely stay again and recommend to everyone. Take the airport transfer offered at EURO 50 each way as the extra 5 is so worth it as Rome taxis can be a bit iffy!

The apartment was superbly located very close to the main piazza at Campe de Fiori. This meant there was plenty of action always happening at the door and we were able to easily walk to all the main attractions. Carla was very welcoming and explained the apartment thoroughly as well as recommending good local restaurants and places to buy supplies. The steps up to the apartment are many and steep and do require stamina and mobility. We were very comfortable in the apartment and particularly loved the rooftop terrace.

Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children 8 & 10 stayed for 5 nights in early June on our first trip to Italy. Apartment Balestrari Terrrace is in a fantastic location, just off Campo de Fiore (markets) and within 5minutes walk to Piazza Navona, 10minutes to the Pantheon, 15minutes to the Trevi fountain and 20minutes to the Vatican. Carla welcomed us to her apartment and provided us with great knowledge of the area, supermarkets, bakery, restaurants, and a lovely personal touch with a delicious home made cake too. . The apartment is lovely, very clean and compact but contains everything you could possibly require during your stay. A welcome addition was the complimentary sachets of tea, coffee and sugar to get us started prior to visiting the local supermarket. The air-conditioning was welcoming at night after a day in the hot Italian sun. We stopped at the markets each morning to collect some fresh fruit to eat during our days sightseeing. The rooftop terrace was covered with fragrant star jasmine and was a highlight (breakfast of fresh croissants and pastries from the local bakery in the mornings and dinner of pizza, focaccia’s and local beers in the evenings whilst listening to the musicians playing in the Campo dei Fiore is hard to beat after a full day of sightseeing). The apartment is on the 4th floor (no lift) with lots of steep steps to climb, especially with luggage, but after reading the other reviews prior to booking we were prepared for it and it was certainly worth the climb. We would have no hesitation in recommending the apartment and would love to return to the Eternal City some day. Many thanks for a wonderful stay in Rome. Great apartment with every item you could require. I had some queries regarding this booking the week before travel that were sort out quickly and efficiently by the booking staff in contact with the owner. Fantastic customer service. I would look at this site first when choosing accommodation for our next holiday.

The apartment was great. Very comfortable, had everything we needed and more. And in a very central location, walk distance from all main places of interest. Only positive feedback regarding the apartment. It was clean and had everything one would need. Sufficient storage space to hang clothes and stow away suitcases. Even such a little detail as multiple light switches that allowed to turn the lights on and off at the entrance to the bedroom and by the bed - a very well thought of feature. In short, an excellent place to stay.

This is the idea spot, close to the Tiber, to walk through Romans history. You can walk to Vatican City, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish steps and the Coliseum, while Campo de Fiori is your base which offers you shopping from food to clothing. Artist, additional restaurants and Four Rivers Fountain await you at Piazza Navona, which is right next door. The roof top patio garden was a blessing as the Church bells ring each day. The 54 steps to the apartment will work off any pounds and allows you to dwell on top of Rome, viewing additional rooftop garden patios.

Jill K. - Now that the Italy trip is behind us, and I have had a chance to settle back into routine - I feel compelled to write to let you know how much fun the Apartment Balestrari Terrace was. Beyond the great location, fun daily Campo de' Fiori marketplace, evening passagiata, etc., the apartment was a delight. The stairs were a challenge on moving days, but armed with a good sense of travellers' humor = not an issue. Cooking in was easy with fresh local ingredients; after dinner sit out on the terrace was special treat in the gathering darkness looking over the rooftops of Rome recounting the joys of our days in this marvelous city - - - milligratzie, E. The apartment proved to be the perfect solution, right in the heart of things, for our short stay in Rome for an early September wedding. It was spotlessly clean, delightfully equipped with everything we needed and it was very pleasing to find that there was coffee, oil, salt and pepper etc not to mention the most beautiful bowl of fresh fruit and some guide books in English already there. The lovely terrace was a particular joy, whether breakfasting in early morning sunshine or sipping a glass of wine at the end of a hot, foot-tiring day to the atmospheric accompaniment of church bells (on the dot of 6.30pm). It is perfectly located for explorations in any direction and having the colourful market and a delightful grocery just round the corner made daily provisioning a joy. As was eating at the little restaurant right at the front door - simple but utterly delicious food and very friendly service. Don't let 59 steps put you off, the reward more than repays any effort. And the owner couldn't be more welcoming and helpful, full of excellent advice. Finally the taxi service. You could propbably find a cheaper one if you wanted to search but none smoother or more friendly. Go!

We enjoyed our stay at Balestrari Terrace very much. We were graciously welcomed and given clear and helpful information about the apartment and the local area. The furnishings and decor were just right for the apartment and had obviously been well thought out by someone who cared. It was a very comfortable apartment in all respects and given added value by the availability of the terrace. Everything in the apartment was clean and worked well and the central location was also a big bonus. We would very definitely stay here again and consider the apartment well worth the climb! Carla deserves special mention as she met us without any delay, gave us clear and helpful information about the apartment and local area, necessary for us to make the most of our stay. Carla made us feel very welcome and took a personal interest in seeing that we were settled in to the extent of providing a stunning cake and a bowl of fresh fruit. She also made sure that we had contact phone numbers for the duration of our stay in case we needed to get in touch about any apartment matters. She couldn't have been more helpful. P&A NZ

Charming, efficient, well designed apartment. If you are expecting the stairs when you arrive with your bags, the rest of the stay is easy going. Master bedroom spacious, bathroom and kitchen modern, and sofa long and very comfortable for our 6 foot 2, 195 pound son. In a perfect part of Rome for getting fresh food, seeing all the sites, exploring different areas, and being as Roman as you want. We are already planning our next trip. Our hostess Carla was intelligent, helpful and our best friend in Rome. We have stayed in apartments in Paris, Prague and Florence. This is the one we will be back to! Andrew, Canada

We were very satisfied with the apartment and especially enjoyed the terrace. The location was within walking distance to all major areas of interest. The last flight of stairs are very steep when carrying suitcases up...but we are in our mid to late 50's and managed it. We thought the work was worth the effort upon arrival. We would highly recommend Apartment Balestrari Terrace. The terrace was a wonderful place to relax with a glass/bottle of vino after a busy day of sightseeing. We were impressed with the professionalism of the web site. We also highly recommend booking the airport pickup. It was well worth the cost after a long flight. Upon being picked up at the airport, the driver phoned the apartment contact to ensure they were there when we arrived. We will use your services again on our next trip to Italy. Greetings, I just wanted to let your office know how much my husband, daughter, and I enjoyed our stay at the Apartment Balestrari Terrace, between Oct 7th and 12th. Besides being located in a great neighborhood, the apartment was very clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. We especially appreciated that fact in the kitchen: there was virtually no utensil that we needed that we couldn't find.In addition, the owner provided tour books, maps, and very useful information about everything from bus routes to grocery stores and restaurants. And there was a beautiful apple cake and bowl of fresh fruit waiting for us upon our arrival! A very nice touch. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to others.Best, Judith B.
